One of the design goals of the speaker system was to achieve controlled sonic dispersion. This way speakers will be more isolated from the listening environment and makes adapting to room modes easier.
There are well known and proven methods for creating such controlled dispersion pattern and dipolar solution was clearly the most compelling one. A true dipole transducers emit identical soundscape in both the front and back of the driver, but the output is inverted in phase. This method reduces the effect of different room modes and greatly enhances stereo separation. Back-wall reflection in the listening room makes the sound more open and at the same time much deeper. All this without taking too much distress from the rest of the space.
Another important feature that dipole solution brings us is a delay-free response. We get rid of acoustic loading from the enclosure, but at the same time we lose some of the sensitivity compared to common loudspeaker designs. Adding more moving surface for the system gives us higher sensitivity and we end up with speaker output without enclosure coloration. By this, we achieve better sonic details and natural reproduction for the whole system.
Near field line array construction gives us directional vertical coverage and thus projects sound effectively into the room. To attain directional characteristics, we added a ribbon tweeter with wave guide. The vertical pattern of the wave guide is required to match the vertical directionality of the line array of mids, and to minimize acoustic lobing and cancellations caused by multiple arrivals. Vertical spreading is restricted even more by using a concaved frame for the line array speaker build. This reduces ceiling and floor reflections, which improves the direct to reverberant ratio.
